Dollar General Corporation, a discount retailer based in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, is the country’s largest retailer by number of stores, with more than 10,000 locations in 40 states. For over 70 years, the company has sold products that are frequently used and replenished, such as food, health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, basic apparel, housewares, and seasonal items. It is a $15 billion firm with more than 90,000 employees.

“Serving Others” is Dollar General’s mission, and one way the company carries out this mission is by supporting veterans, servicemembers, and their families. This support has earned the company such honors as the Military Officers Association of America Distinguished Service Award and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Freedom Award. Dollar General has hired more than 7,000 veterans since February 2010.

Dollar General believes that members of the military community have gained the skills necessary to excel in the company. Their military experience has made them self-sufficient, yet able to work in teams and take on challenging leadership roles.
