The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has a 158-year history of serving the citizens of Indianapolis, and recently went from policing just the city to all of Marion County. The IMPD has approximately 1,600 sworn officers and 250 civilian employees. It provides core law-enforcement services from six policing districts, an Investigations Division, a Homeland Security Division, an Operations Division, and a variety of special units.
