Schwan’s Home Service, Inc., is America’s largest direct-to-home frozen-food delivery business, marketing and distributing about 350 frozen foods under the Schwan’s® and LiveSmart™ brands. Four of Schwan’s regional recruiters are retired Army and Air Force. They provide leadership to the rest of the recruiting team on building relationships with military branches, bases, and units, and how to recruit military, veterans, and spouses.

Primarily, Schwan’s Home Service is seeking to fill territory sales leader and route sales representative positions to serve the needs of its 2.5 million customers. Route sales representatives sell and deliver more than 300 varieties of frozen food to the customer’s front door. This role demands the characteristics that many veterans already possess: superb people skills, motivation, respect for procedures and safety, a competitive nature, and the ability to think quickly.

Beyond this, veterans have experience in performing under pressure, tackling adversity, and working both individually and with teams to achieve goals. The leadership skills that veterans bring to the workplace make them not only excellent candidates for the route sales representative role, but also for leadership positions at Schwan, such as the territory sales leader and beyond.
