Fortune 200 company Waste Management, Inc., based in Houston, provides comprehensive waste management services to nearly 20 million residential, municipal, commercial, and industrial customers in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Through its subsidiaries, the company provides collection, transfer, recycling and resource recovery, and disposal services in over 1,000 locations. With 43,000 employees, it is also a leading developer, operator, and owner of waste-to-energy and landfill gas-to-energy facilities in the United States.

In 2012, the company expects to hire more than 5,000 employees for positions such as CDL driver, diesel mechanic, gas plant manager, heavy equipment operator, transportation route manager, vehicle fleet manager, and waste-to-energy control room operator.

Waste Management has averaged hiring a veteran every day for the past four years. It 3,600-plus (8 percent) employees who are veterans contribute at every level in the company.
