Express Scripts, Inc., makes prescription drugs more affordable for tens of millions of consumers through thousands of employer, government, union, and health plans. The company provides integrated pharmacy benefit management (PBM) services including network-pharmacy claims processing, home delivery services, specialty benefit management, benefit-design consultation, drug-utilization review, formulary management, and medical and drug data analysis services. The company also distributes a full range of biopharmaceutical products and provides extensive cost-management and patient-care services. Express Scripts was founded in 1986, and has never been owned by a drug manufacturer.

The company calls St. Louis its home, but it has administrative, pharmacy, and customer-service operations throughout the United States and Canada. Express Scripts employs more than 12,000 people.

Express Scripts has been honored as one of “America’s Most Admired Companies” by Fortune in 2009, one of the “75 Most Reputable Companies in the U.S.” by Forbes in 2008, and one of the “Top 50 U.S. Companies, 2008 Corporate Social Responsibility Index (CSRI)” by the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and Reputation Institute.

“At Express Scripts, we have a commitment of service to our patients and clients,” said Melanie Curtis, Vice President of Talent Management and Organization Development. “We take that very seriously. We help patients be healthy while containing healthcare costs. We think that relates nicely to the core values that veterans have when they leave the service.”

Veterans bring a lot of other qualities, according to Curtis. “We’re a very fast-paced organization and we have to constantly be innovating,” she said. “Veterans’ ability to think on their feet, lead large and small groups, work on a team, and be flexible helps to make things happen here.”

Curtis said that Express Scripts has opportunities all over the organization for veterans. “We’re looking for people in IT, HR, customer service, account managers, data entry technicians, project managers – especially anyone with experience with Lean Six Sigma,” she said.
